I’m Johnny, I live in Bristol, and I spend a lot of time with my hands in the soil.
I’ve been a Gardener for nearly 16 years and opt for an organic approach to nurture nature and maintain spaces for clients that help them connect with their gardens. This is not only good for mental well-being but good for the planet.
I’ve built up many years of experience and expertise working for garden and landscaping companies in Surrey, London and Somerset, learning different skills and knowledge in each place. My love of gardening stems from my Aunty Jane, I began working for her local gardening business in my hometown of Farnham at 15. This was my induction into gardening where I learnt fundamental skills and became familiar with the rhythm of the seasons. In West London, I began working at a reputable design and landscaping company. This provided me with attention to detail for high end clientele in smaller suburban gardens, working to a high standard under pressure.
The last few years was spent enjoying bigger country gardens of North Somerset at a local company as the Lead Gardener, with a more naturalist approach.
I studied illustration at University and have a creative eye which I am able to apply to planting plans.
Most of my spare time is spent in the garden but I also enjoy drawing, hiking, camping and reading on the incredibly wide spectrum of horticulture. The learning is endless and part of the fun and enjoyment.
In 2020 I was fortunate enough to take ownership of my own small garden where my passion and creativity has grown wild alongside it. I am trying to test the limits and boundaries of what a small garden is capable of, something you can follow along with on my Instagram account where I post updates.
